Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar with its meaning. They often believe it is an island to the west of Montreal However, it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently referenced, however her brief time in the city was not. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. In her early years, she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her into the right direction. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal character of Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in Season 1 which was viewed only on occasion.
